Weekday Courses
Beginners
This class option covers Wayne’s process of painting an oil painting start to finish, including simple composition and drawing ideas, brush techniques and ways of applying paint to achieve a realistic result. We will deal with the complexity of creating a painting by simplifying the approach to a largely monotone painting, however, some colour is added along the way. We work on a landscape and a seascape painting and by the end of the course you will have two small paintings to take home which are an illustrated account of what you have learnt.
The beginners oil painting class will run over 6 weeks, 3 hours/week. We take a maximum of 6 people in each class.
Intermediate
This class is the next progression from the beginners oil painting class. It covers a landscape or a seascape in full colour, working alongside Wayne to create your own artwork. In this class there is a strong focus on mixing colour and further developing an understanding of how to create depth and atmosphere in the landscape. A simple palette of 7 colours is used to mix almost any colour found in the natural world. Beyond colour, brush and palette knife techniques are developed further, picking up from where the beginners class left off.
The intermediate oil painting class will run over 10 weeks, 3 hours/week, including a mid-term break of 1 week. We take a maximum of 6 people in each class.
